Overview
Hidayah ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Hidayah (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not use the App.
Your privacy matters. We collect only the minimum data required to provide the App's features. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Display name – An optional name you enter during onboarding (stored locally and in your Firebase account).
- City / Location preference – The city or location you manually select for prayer time calculations. This is a city name you choose from a list; the App does not collect your real-time GPS coordinates.
- Prayer and worship preferences – Your selected madhab (school of jurisprudence), language preference, and notification settings.
- Habits – Worship habits you create and track within the App (stored locally on your device).
- Chat messages – Messages you send to the AI Islamic Guide feature (stored in your Firebase account to provide conversation history).
Information Collected Automatically
- Anonymous user ID – A randomly generated identifier created by Firebase Authentication when you first open the App. No email address or name is required.
- App usage data – Basic usage analytics such as which features you use, session duration, and crash reports collected by Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. This data is aggregated and used to improve the App.
- Device information – Device type, operating system version, and app version, collected automatically by Firebase.
- Purchase information – Subscription status and transaction identifiers managed by RevenueCat and Apple. We do not store your payment card details.
No GPS data. Hidayah does not request, collect, or store your device's GPS or real-time location. Prayer times are calculated based on the city you manually select in the App.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the App's features (prayer times, Quran reader, Dhikr counter, AI Guide, etc.)
- Calculate accurate prayer times based on your selected city
- Personalize your experience (language, madhab, theme preferences)
- Send local push notifications for prayer time reminders (only if you enable them)
- Process premium subscription purchases through RevenueCat and Apple's App Store
- Analyze app performance, fix bugs, and improve features
- Maintain conversation history for the AI Islamic Guide feature
- Communicate with you if you contact us for support
We do not use your information to:
- Sell or rent your information to third parties
- Send marketing emails or spam
- Build advertising profiles
- Share your data with advertisers
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy:
Firebase (Google LLC)
- Firebase Authentication – Creates anonymous user accounts. No email or personal information required.
- Cloud Firestore – Stores chat history, worship group data, and user preferences.
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics – Collects anonymized usage and crash data to improve the App.
- Firebase Cloud Functions – Processes prayer time requests and API calls server-side, without exposing API keys to clients.
RevenueCat
- Manages in-app subscriptions and purchase verification.
- RevenueCat stores anonymous purchase identifiers and subscription status.
Google Gemini AI
- Powers the AI Islamic Guide chat feature.
- Messages you send to the AI Guide are processed by Gemini AI via Firebase to generate responses.
- Do not share sensitive personal information in the chat.
Prayer Times APIs
- Anonymous city-based requests are made to prayer time calculation services to retrieve prayer schedules. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on your device (locally) and in Firebase's cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud), which is located primarily in the United States and Europe. Firebase implements industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
Data Retention
- Local device data (habits, settings) is retained until you delete the App.
- Firebase data (chat history, preferences) is retained until you request deletion or your account is removed.
- You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us (see Contact section).
Children's Privacy
Hidayah is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at retrodeckapp@outlook.com and we will take steps to delete such information.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access – Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction – Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Deletion – Request deletion of your personal data. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at retrodeckapp@outlook.com.
- Portability – Request a copy of your data in a portable format where technically feasible.
- Opt-out of notifications – Disable prayer time notifications at any time in the App's Settings or your device's notification settings.

Subscriptions & Billing
Hidayah offers optional premium subscriptions (monthly and yearly) that unlock additional features. Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID Account Settings.
- No refunds are provided for the current subscription period upon cancellation.
- We do not have access to your payment card details; all billing is handled by Apple.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
